The steps are fully carpeted, which makes it much easier for my dogs to use them. They had trouble slipping with the wood steps with just one piece of carpet covering the step. I do wish the steps themselves were deeper. They're a little too steep and too shallow so my old Chihuahua has some trouble with them.
